Rublev Advances to the Monte Carlo Finals

Andrey Rublev has reached his third Masters final after defeating Taylor Fritz in a closely contested match in Monte Carlo. Despite being on a three-match losing streak against Fritz, the Russian bounced back from a set down to win 5-7 6-1 6-3. The match was interrupted due to rain for nearly two hours, but Rublev held his nerve to claim a hard-fought victory.

In the other semi-final, Holger Rune produced a stunning comeback to defeat Jannik Sinner and reach his second Masters final. The match was played in windy conditions and was extended due to a rain delay.

Sinner dominated the opening set, winning five consecutive games to take an early lead. However, Rune fought back in the second set, taking a 3-0 lead before the match was interrupted by rain. The players resumed under the lights, and despite Sinner’s valiant effort to level the set at 5-5, Rune managed to take the second set and force a third.

The decider was a tense affair, with both players determined to hold serve. Sinner saved five break points before the Italian eventually cracked while serving to stay in the contest. Rune broke the 21-year-old to claim the win after almost three hours on the court.

The victory made Rune the first teenager to reach the tournament’s final since Rafa Nadal in 2006. Despite Rune’s shushing antics that took out his frustration on the chair umpire and the crowd, he managed to keep his composure and secure his place in the final.
