Holger Rune managed to advance to the next round of Maters in Paris by winning over veteran Stan Wawrinka. There was some tension by the end of this game.
In this dramatic game, a 19-year-old from Copenhagen managed to save three match points and managed to defeat his opponent in very intense three sets – 4:6, 7:5, and 7:6.
At the end of the game, Rune got an unexpected verbal lection from his experienced colleague at the net. You could’ve read from Wawrinka’s lips, “Stop acting like a baby on the court.”
Rune’s advancement on the ATP list caused a lot of controversies. Everything started last spring when the crowd heard him shouting homophobic insults. He once got into a verbal discussion with Casper Ruud after their quarterfinals game at Roland Garros. Ruud had similar opinions as Wawrinka.
