Australia Advances at the Billie Jean King Cup

Australian tennis national team advanced to the semifinals of the Billie Jean King Cup after the win over Belgium 2-0.

In the first match, Storm Sanders was better in the duel versus Alison Van Uytvanck by beating her in two sets – 6:2, 6:2. Such a convincing victory was a surprise, considering the fact that the Australian player is seeded almost 200 spots lower than Van Uytvanck on the WTA list.

The second match was between Ajla Tomljanovic and Elise Mertens, and the Belgium player withdrew from the match while the result was 4:6, 6:4, and 3:0.
