Francesca Jones’ impressive run at the Copa Colsanitas came to an end in the semi-finals after a straight-sets defeat to Tatjana Maria. Despite losing to the defending champion, the 22-year-old Briton can be proud of her achievements in Bogota.
World No 817 Jones caused a stir by beating seeded players Nuria Parrizas Diaz and Laura Pigossi on her way to the last four. Jones, who has a congenital condition, fought hard against the second seed, but Maria’s experience proved to be the difference.
