Romanian Tennis Player Sorana Cirstea Speaks Out

Romanian tennis player Sorana Cirstea recently spoke about famous brands that sponsor female tennis players. She claims that most of them usually look at female players more as models and less as successful women.

She claims that results are not that relevant for them when they are deciding who to sponsor, but rather the beauty of the girls, which of course, should not be something to judge when it comes to sports.

“I remember when I signed one sponsorship contract. Given the fact that I looked good, they kept telling me: It is better to look good and be in the top 20 on WTA than to be ugly and be number one. When you are in the top 20, everyone notices you; you are there 24/7, seven days a week, during every week, on every tournament,” Sorana stated.
